Transfer and stitch six sashiko patterns onto fabric using paper and acrylic stencils–the perfect beginner workshop for those wanting learn basic sashiko.

During this one-day in-person workshop at the Sashiko Australia Studio in Brisbane, Sue will teach students how to transfer designs onto fabric, and how to stitch them.

 

 

Materials you will need for this workshop

Needles

• • 1 x sashiko needle. You’re welcome to use a sashiko needle that you’ve used previously, or buy one according to your preference. Ensure your needle has a large enough eye for threading sashiko thread and a sharp point. (Recommend Olympus, Clover, or Tulip)
  • Straight pins

Thread

• • A skein or card of sashiko thread or roll of perle embroidery thread, either size no. 5 or no. 8 (available onsite)

Scissors

• • 1 x pair of small scissors

Additional items

• • Cutting mat
  • Rotary cutter
  • Ceramic pencil (available onsite)
  • Biro/ballpoint pen
  • Chalk paper (available onsite).

 

Workshop Cost Inclusions

• Stencils and templates will be available for use (students are welcome to bring their own templates)
• Fabric for design transfer and stitching
• Sashiko tutoring for one full day, in a light and spacious Brisbane studio setting
• Morning tea – coffee and tea available all day.
