The Sashiko Australia Studio was at full capacity for my free sashiko and boro stitch-along event on August 16th.
Crafters brought their works-in-progress and Unfinished Objects to the event, where I offered tips and advice on how to really get the most out of their projects and develop their sashiko and boro techniques. It was also a nice meet and greet opportunity for Brisbane crafters and quilters! I offered plenty of feedback on students’ work, and was very impressed by their passion for Japanese-inspired slow stitching.
I also exhibited some examples of vintage boro textiles, including my prized boro coat from Yokohama.
Thank you to everyone who attended, and I’m planning future social catchup sessions at the studio.
