Quilting and Sashiko Retreat with Hiroe Mogi and Sue Howie
Here is a recap of the August 2025 quilting and sashiko retreat that I hosted at Tamborine Mountain with Hiroe Mogi.
We hosted a very enthusiastic and creative group of crafters for the final retreat of 2025, who had  travelled from all over Australia to enjoy four days of foundation piecing, sashiko embroidery and boro-inspired textiles.
Guests created quilt blocks using the foundation piecing technique, under the expert instruction of quilt and sashiko designer Hiroe Mogi. Hiroe’s quilt designs combine hand-appliqué, foundation piecing, and intricate free-motion embroidery.
Hiroe stayed on to share her expertise in my boro and sashiko workshop. Guests had the opportunity to create sashiko and boro-inspired book covers, tote bags and vests, and produced some beautiful work:
